Unit B321: The Individual Media Studies Portfolio
Controlled assessment
30% of the total GCSE marks
120 marks
Candidates produce an individual portfolio containing as assignment, a production exercise and a planning and evaluative commentary based on at least two media texts.

This unit is internally assessed and externally moderated.

Then either Unit B322:

Unit B322: Textual Analysis and Media Studies Topic (Moving Image)
1 hr 45 mins written paper
40% of the total GCSE marks
80 marks
This examination has 2 sections:

Section A
Candidates answer 3 questions to examine Media Language, Genre and Representation (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013).

Section B
Candidates answer 1 question on TV and/or Radio Comedy relating to audience and institution (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013).

This unit is externally assessed.

Or Unit B323:

This examination has 2 sections:

Candidates produce a major practical production portfolio in response to briefs set by OCR.
